About Josh Workman
Josh Workman is an internationally traveled guitarist, composer, educator, and journalist, who teaches at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA and performs regularly with The Hot Club of Los Angeles and others.
Josh has performed and/or recorded with Jackson Browne, Rufus Wainright, Lynda Carter, Drake Bell, Margaret Cho, Debbie Harry, The Jazz Passengers, Jon Hendricks, Maria Muldaur, Houston Person, Groove Collective/Groove Thing, Larry Vuckovich, Indigo Swing, The Hot Club of Los Angeles, The Hot Club of San Francisco, Benny Green, and many others. Josh Workman's release, Jumpin at the Border reached #24 on the JazzWeek national radio charts and received critical acclaim, garnering four out.of five stars on All Music Guide and receiving the International Association of Jazz Educators Blue Chip Award – among the top four instrumentals of the year. Josh spent ten years writing for Guitar Player Magazine and worked as a music transcriber for Warner Bros, Hal Leonard, and others.
Education:
M.M. in Studio Guitar from USC’s Thornton School of Music (recipient of the 2025 Studio Guitar Ensemble and MM Student awards).
BFA in Performance from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
High School: San Francisco School of the Arts. Private instructors include Gene Bertoncini, Tuck Andress, Bruce Forman, and Vic Juris, and Adam Del Monte.
